Evertton Araújo has sustained a serious muscle injury in his left thigh, with a return expected in November. It further depletes Flamengo for the next Brasileirão game, as Erick Pulgar and Lucas Paquetá are suspended for the match against Bragantino.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the 23-year-old left the pitch at half-time and did not return in the 2-0 win over Mirassol on two September. He had not started, coming on for Erick Pulgar after the midfielder requested to go off with physical issues.

In 2026, Araújo has been key to Leonardo Jardim’s rotation, often first in when Jorginho or Pulgar were being rested.

For Sunday 20 against Bragantino, Jardim has three midfield options, Jorginho, Saúl and De La Cruz. The latter two have seen limited minutes.

De La Cruz, the Uruguayan, was not even on the bench for the 2-1 win over Corinthians at the Maracanã.

The suspensions do not apply to the Libertadores, so Pulgar and Paquetá are available when Flamengo meet Independiente del Valle (EQU) at the Maracanã on Thursday 17.
