Harry Kane was asked about Lamine Yamal’s statements after surpassing the 100-goal mark in the Bundesliga. The 33-year-old striker played down the controversies raised after the 19-year-old Spaniard’s strong comments.
"Ballon d'Or? I don’t really like talking about myself. I focus on my work on the pitch. Everyone has their own opinion on the subject, and that’s okay.” Kane said about the individual award.
He further claimed that he didn’t understand what the World Cup winner meant by his claim of Ballon d’Or standard players. “I don’t know how he meant it. Yamal is an incredible player. He had a great season, as did many others. Mbappé, Michael (Olise), Rodri. There are many candidates.” added the England captain.
"Everyone has the right to express themselves however they want. Everyone is different. That’s not up to me. I'll keep doing my thing on the pitch, and then we’ll see what happens," Kane told Sky Sports.
Kane scored a brace on Friday evening as FC Bayern momentarily climbed to the Bundesliga summit with a 7-0 victory over Union Berlin. The England international is the fastest to reach 100 Bundesliga goals as he did it in his 98th appearance.
