Union Berlin used a satirical post on X to poke fun at Lamine Yamal over the Ballon d'Or, as reported by L'Équipe.
The Berlin side had just conceded seven at Bayern Munich on Friday night, and turned to humour by saluting Bayern's goalscorers.
In their message, they suggested the 19-year-old Barcelona winger might have been better off staying quiet, and argued Harry Kane and Michael Olise looked Ballon d'Or calibre.
Earlier on Friday, Yamal had said the Ballon d'Or should go to the world's best player rather than to someone who had won the Champions League or scored 80 goals, a remark aimed at Harry Kane without naming him.
The post landed immediately after Kane scored twice and Olise hit a hat-trick against Union.
