“Everything I said” – John Terry less than impressed as he slams “poor” Chelsea after Leeds defeat | OneFootball

John Terry has described Chelsea’s performance against Leeds as “poor”  as he bemoaned a lack of fight from Enzo Maresca’s men.

Chelsea turned in an awful performance as they slumped to a 3-1 win at Elland Road, and seemed totally unprepared for the occasion.

The Blues clearly underestimated Leeds, and couldn’t deal with the hostile atmosphere and were all over the place for most of the game.

John Terry not impressed with Chelsea performance

Having gone unbeaten in November, including impressive performances against Barcelona and Arsenal, Chelsea came crashing back down.

It’s these kind of games the Blues have found difficult and their struggles continued on Wednesday evening as they just couldn’t deal with Leeds.

Tosin had a night to forget, and the Blues were all over the place from a defensive stand point, and offered little in attack.

Terry had spoken about the atmosphere before the game, and he was less than impressed by what he was saw from his former club.

“What a poor performance that was,” he said on TikTok.

“Everything I said about Leeds, they were going to be aggressive, fans were going to be up for it, it was going to be a hostile place to go.

“You either go there and match them or you take the sting out of it completely, and by looks of it we certainly didn’t do that in the first half”

“We cannot follow up two unbelievable performances with a performance like that, it’s certainly not going to make you title contenders”

“Unfortunately that’s what’s going to cost us, we are inexperienced and if you can’t go Leeds away and know what to expect then…”

Lack of fight from Enzo Maresca’s men

Terry also bemoaned a lack of fight from the players, which is hard to argue against given the performance put in.

“You need to go there and show the fight, match Leeds in every single way and then earn your right to play,” he added.

“Set piece, individual mistakes defensively, clearly not good enough, maybe that’s an opportunity for the manager to look at the squad and go ‘okay rotations not for me moving forward, I know my best 11-14 players and I’ll stick with that and the other players are just going to have to deal with it.”
