After a busy summer of FIFA World Cup action in North America, members of Manchester City’s senior men’s first-team squad are making a staggered return to club football.

Almost every player within the Sky Blues’ squad list featured across the course of the World Cup in June and July, and fortunately, they will all be returning healthy to club action – with the exception of Rodri and his minor back surgery this summer.

All of those within the squad will be eager to become acquainted with their new manager, Enzo Maresca to hear the Italian’s vision for Manchester City, his tactics and style of play, and how they each will fit into his system.

In order to learn more, 28 members of the senior squad and academy system have now travelled to Asia for Manchester City’s 2026 summer pre-season tour, with one match in Hong Kong and two in Seoul, South Korea ahead of the 2026/2027 season.

This summer will be the first time Manchester City have played in Hong Kong since 2019, while the Sky Blues last played in Seoul back in 2023 off the back of their historic Treble-winning season.

Man City’s 2026 pre-season tour fixtures

Manchester City will begin their pre-season tour in Hong Kong with a match against Serie A champions Inter on Saturday 1 August at Kai Tak Sports Park – the fifth encounter between the two clubs in friendlies and competitive fixtures.

The first two meetings between the English club and the Italian side came in 2010 and 2011 during pre-season friendlies, while their first competitive encounter was not until June 2023 and the unforgettable UEFA Champions League Final in Istanbul, Turkey.

Since that memorable night, when Manchester City were crowned European champions for the very first time, the club have only faced Inter once more, with that clash coming in the Champions League’s league phase and a 0-0 draw in September 2024.

After the meeting with Inter, the Sky Blues will then travel to Seoul in South Korea for their two remaining fixtures where a meeting with K League All-Stars first awaits on on Wednesday, 5 August at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.

Manchester City will then conclude their pre-season tour of Asia with a match against Atlético Madrid, again in Seoul’s World Cup Stadium. That match will be played on Sunday, 9 August and become the fourth encounter between the English club and Spanish side.

The first two encounters took place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals in the 2021/2022 season where City defeated Atlético 1-0 in the first-leg in Manchester before a cagey 0-0 draw in Madrid. Their most recent encounter was in July 2023 – a friendly that Atlético won.

All three of Manchester City’s pre-season friendlies will be available to watch on ManCity.com, as well as on the official app for CITY+ subscribers.

The Sky Blues have also co-ordinated events with PUMA in Hong Kong and Seoul for fans outside of the matches so they can interact with special guests, see the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, watch open training sessions, and visit pop-up stores selling official City merchandise.

Manchester City will be travelling with a relatively senior squad for their matches in Hong Kong and Seoul, despite the majority of the club’s first-team players participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and several of those returning in time for the start of the Far-East jaunt.

Manchester City have clarified, as part of their travelling squad announcement, that several first-team players that reached the World Cup Quarter-Final stages or beyond will not travel for pre-season due to required rest time permitted ahead of the new Premier League season.

However, a small number of players that reached the World Cup Round of 16 will join for part of the tour but were not with the squad departing Manchester on Tuesday evening.
