Ivan Toney, 30, has pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Westminster Magistrates' Court, and was granted unconditional bail ahead of a 29 October hearing at Southwark Crown Court.

According to Hounslow Herald, he is accused of headbutting and punching Saber Da Silva at a nightclub on Wardour Street, Soho, on 6 December 2025. He confirmed his name and age, and opted for a jury trial at Crown Court after District Judge Briony Clarke ruled the case could be heard by magistrates.

The charge, brought on 31 July, relates to an incident in London while Toney was already playing in Saudi Arabia for Al-Ahli. Through a spokesperson at the time, he acknowledged the charge, said he was shocked and looked forward to clearing his name in court.

Toney joined Brentford from Peterborough United in 2020 and spent four seasons in west London, scoring 31 Championship goals in 2020-21 as the Bees won promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs. He went on to net 72 for the club, 36 in the top flight, including 20 in 2022-23.

In 2023 he served an eight-month suspension and was fined £50,000 after admitting 232 breaches of the Football Association's betting rules, before returning in January 2024.

He won 10 England caps and was in the squad that reached the Euro 2024 final, before completing a £40m move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli that August. He was later named in Thomas Tuchel's 2026 World Cup squad but did not play. Toney began his career at Northampton Town and also had a spell at Wigan Athletic before Brentford.
