Ex-Corinthians midfielder Giuliano announces retirement at 36 | OneFootball

Former Corinthians midfielder Giuliano, 36, has retired from football, announcing the decision on Tuesday in a social media post.

At the end of August, he filed a Labour Court claim against Corinthians seeking R$ 1.3 million over alleged unpaid FGTS deposits, according to ge.globo. The club had reached an agreement to pay him in May 2024.

He plans to remain in the game and begin a business career, while his final season came in 2025 with Athletico. He departs with 789 official appearances, 163 goals, 124 assists and eight titles.

The Brazilian also represented Paraná, Internacional, Grêmio, Santos and Athletico, plus overseas spells at Zenit in Russia, Fenerbahçe in Türkiye and Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. He won 14 caps for Brazil.

With Corinthians from 2021 to 2023 he scored 12 goals and provided 15 assists in 143 games, and was seen as a dressing-room leader. He left during the squad overhaul under ousted president Augusto Melo, then joined Santos for 2024.
