Giuliano has announced his retirement from football at 36, confirming the decision in a social media post on Tuesday.

The player said in a post that football had been the best thing that happened to him, reflecting on a journey that shaped him and insisting the game goes on.

He departs with 789 official appearances, 163 goals, 124 assists and eight trophies.

In Brazil, he played for Paraná, Internacional, Grêmio, Corinthians, Santos and Athletico. Abroad he featured for Zenit, Fenerbahçe in Türkiye, and Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. He won 14 Brazil caps.

His final season was with Athletico in 2025. At the outset of retirement, he plans to remain in the sport and begin a career as a businessman.

In late August he filed a labour claim against Corinthians, where he played between 2021 and 2023, seeking R$ 1.3 million over alleged unpaid Fundo de Garantia por Tempo de Serviço (FGTS) deposits.
