Wolves’ relegation to the Championship was confirmed on Monday, prompting an outpouring of emotion and messages from families of former favourites.

As reported by ExpressAndStar.com, a series of Instagram posts from partners of past players struck a chord. They also recalled the highs under Nuno, including two top seven finishes and a Europa League quarter-final.

Raul Jimenez’s partner shared images of the striker and their children at Molineux, alongside the messages 'once a wolf, always a wolf' and 'Wolves aye we'.

Jonny Castro Otto’s partner posted a photo of the pair and another of Molineux, writing: 'Gutted, what a painful feeling. This will always be our home in our hearts. No surrender, we will rise again to the Premier League exactly where we belong.'

The posts prompted some supporters to urge returns for former stars.

Responding to the Jimenez post, one fan wrote: 'If we're serious about coming back up then I'd be trying to convince him to come back!!'
