Arsenal have been quite incredible so far this season. However, a few shaky results and performances have left Manchester City just two points behind the Gunners as we head into the festive period.
In contrast, Pep Guardiola’s side are building up some serious momentum, winning six games on the bounce.
Arsenal themselves have only lost one of their last 21 games across all competitions, but dropped points at Sunderland and Chelsea and a fortunate win over Wolves have left many questions.
Arsenal legend Ray Parlour spoke exclusively to EPL Index and shared his thoughts on the threat of Man City…
Parlour believes it is solely a two-horse race for the Premier League title this season. Reigning champions Liverpool are currently lingering down in 7th place after a horrendous run of results in October and November. Aston Villa are currently sitting amongst it, but are still expected to drop off eventually.
“Man City are proven winners of the Premier League and a massive threat to Arsenal. Haaland is in red hot form and so is Foden,” began Parlour, “Yes, Arsenal look to heave a better squad on paper, but its very close now at the top of the League.”

“Arsenal losing to Villa has enabled City to close the gap and Arsenal have some tricky games coming up where as City look to have more winnable games,” said Parlour, “Arsenal still have to go City at the end of the season as well, so this is always a tough place to go.”
Parlour was keen to point out Arsenal’s upcoming clash with Aston Villa as a huge one. Just a couple of weeks ago, Unai Emery’s side came out 2-1 winners at Villa Park and the Villains are currently just three points behind Arsenal.
“Aston Villa are in it as well as their home form is excellent beating Arsneal and Man City and Arsenal host them in a few weeks which won’t be an easy game,” said Parlour.
Looking at the bigger picture in terms of Villa’s title credentials, Parlour remained coy.
“Yes their squad is less deep than both City and Arsenal, but they have good momentum now and will hope to stay close at the top,” continued Parlour, “The bookies don’t often get it wrong and they have Arsenal and Man City as the two favourites, so this is about right.”
