The latest reports from CaughtOffside are that the Blues are hot on the case of two Ligue 1 wonderkids – Ayyoub Bouaddi and Brian Madjo.
The success of Estevao Willian coming right into the first team squad is clearly inspiring some other moves for the team, and young players will be more tempted to join us now they’ve seen how we’re handing out minutes two young stars.
And boy do these two look like absolute gems. Metz striker Madjo is still just 16, and would likely be sent straight to Strasbourg to develop for a couple of years before coming to Stamford Bridge.
But Bouaddi is already making a first team breakthrough at Lille, looking absolutely sensational. That’s also the issue – now 18 and wanted by all of the top clubs in Europe, Chelsea won’t be getting any cheap deal here. He’s young – but we’d be paying a first team fee for him.
January feels too ambitious for either of these deals, but groundwork is probably already being put into place. This summer could see some major pursuits from multiple clubs and the best way to beat them to the punch is to get the deal done early.
Chelsea are looking to sell some players in January as they aim to trim down their squad and improve their wage bill, and we look at look at the 3 most likely departures here.
Chelsea don’t look likely to be getting into too much January business this year, at least according to the Athletic, who claim that sales are more likely in the winter window.
