After a disappointing end to last season under caretaker Jon Worthington saw them finish 10th in the table, Huddersfield appointed Grant as their new boss back in May, with the 42-year-old leaving his role as a coach at Ipswich Town to take up his first senior managerial position.

Grant has certainly been given strong backing in the transfer market by owner Kevin Nagle this summer, with Owen Goodman, Lynden Gooch, Joe Low, Sean Roughan, Josh Feeney, Jack Whatmough, Murray Wallace, Ryan Ledson, Marcus McGuane, Leo Castledine, Marcus Harness and Alfie May all arriving at the Accu Stadium.

After beginning the season with a 3-0 home win over Leyton Orient, the Terriers recorded their second consecutive victory as they beat fellow promotion hopefuls Reading 2-0 at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Saturday, with second-half goals from Whatmough and debutant Cameron Ashia sealing another impressive three points for Grant's men.

Huddersfield currently sit top of the early League One table after picking up six points from their first two games, and they are back in league action this coming weekend when they make the trip to face struggling Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.

Speaking exclusively to Football League World, Hendrie claimed that Grant is already making big improvements at Huddersfield, and he backed the Terriers to be one of the promotion challengers in League One this season under his guidance.

"Huddersfield needed to invest and bring players in because I think their squad was very average last season, hence they didn't get where they should be getting," Hendrie told FLW.

"Lee Grant has come in there, and he's steering it in the right direction already.

"I looked at that league, and it's a lot more competitive this season - there's no doubt it's more competitive than it was last season.

"The reason why is because clubs who have come down have been able to invest, and teams that didn't quite hit the mark last season, like Huddersfield, have had to invest this season.

"I think Lee Grant has got off to a great start, it's exactly what you want.

"Clean sheets and winning games is the perfect scenario, and they've got to keep that going.

"They're a team that I think will be in the promotion push, for sure."

With pressure building on him after two underwhelming seasons, it was certainly a brave call from Nagle to give Grant his first opportunity in management at Huddersfield, but on the early evidence, it looks like it could be a masterstroke.

Nagle deserves huge praise for the investment he has provided during the summer, and the Terriers have undoubtedly built one of the strongest squads in League One, which gives Grant the perfect platform to deliver success at the Accu Stadium.

Of course, Grant is still in the early stages of his tenure, and Town supporters will be reluctant to get too carried away just yet, but given his seamless adaptation to management, an exciting season could be ahead for the club.
