Chelsea are looking at signing Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth, according to an exclusive from Mark Brus at CaughtOffside today.

He says that the Blues are considering the Argentine as a free transfer option in the summer when his deal expires on the south coast. They will have to offer a healthy wage, but no transfer fee.

Marcos Senesi in action

We all know that the Blues have a model which focuses on signing young players, but they don’t rule out older players either. On free transfers that’s especially true – our last move like this was two summers ago when we snapped up Tosin after his Fulham deal expired.

We’re sure that’s a move a lot of Blues fans would like – sell Tosin on (any fee at all would be a profit given he was signed for free), then replace his wages and role in the squad with Senesi, who is a similar age and a better player.

“There have not yet been any formal talks or offers made to Senesi,” Brus writes

“Who is fully focused on doing his best for Bournemouth until the end of the season, but all sources I’ve spoken to expect that he won’t be signing a new contract with the Cherries.

If the rumours like this persist, we’re going to start believing it’s actually on the cards.

In other news…

Cole Palmer’s late miss really cost Chelsea against Leeds, but in the end he’s done so much for the Blues (including in that game) that nobody is really going to blame him.

Marc Cucurella’s hamstring injury has already ruled him out for tomorrow’s game – now everyone wants to know just how bad it is. He is having an MRI today, with Spanish sources already fearing the worst for the full back.
