Dutch giants Feyenoord have announced the surprising signing of free agent winger Raheem Sterling.
The 82-cap England international left Chelsea last month after three-and-a-half years but had been frozen out of the first team for much of the last 18 months.
He has signed a short-term deal in Rotterdam until the end of the season and revealed the move to the Eredivisie is not a decision he took lightly.
"As a free agent, I've had, for the first time in a long time, the opportunity to control the next step in my career," Sterling told Feyenoord's official website.

"I wanted to take my time to speak with clubs and their coaches to better understand the role they envisioned for me and ensure that I can add real value in this next chapter.
"I'm confident that Feyenoord is a place I can be happy and establish myself as a valued member of the team. Playing abroad is a whole new challenge for me - and one I’m ready to embrace. Honestly, I’m just excited to get started."
Sterling, who is still just 31, will link up with former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie, who is in charge at De Kuip.
