Andoni Iraola has been established as the favourite as Chelsea look for a new manager. Cesc Fabregas and Xabi Alonso are the names the fans seem to want. Eddie Howe and Marco Silva are the ugly ducklings at the moment.

But those aren’t the only names Chelsea are looking at. Our writer Simon Phillips has reported on his Substack that both Oliver Glasner and Niko Kovac are in the frame.

Glasner looks like an impossible fit for Chelsea

Glasner has done a great job at Crystal Palace, but is leaving because he’s fallen out with those above him. That’s caused the doubts that Chelsea seem to have about him, according to Phillips:

“With Glasner, our source says that at this moment, Chelsea are unsure whether he would work ‘collaboratively’ with them – hence why he is much lower down the list.”

If he couldn’t handle Palace, we can only imagine how he’d get on at Chelsea, where he would have far less say in all areas of the club.

In other news…

We’ve finally found out how long Mykhailo Mudryk could be banned for, and if he has a good outcome to his appeal, he could be halfway through it already.

Romeo Lavia played well against Leeds on Sunday, and after the game spoke a little about what he and his teammates had considered “unacceptable” about their recent showings.
