Ligue 1 outfit Rennes are looking for experienced players and Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye is a player they are showing ‘strong interest’ in.
The Toffees now have new owners in the shape of The Friedkin Group and they are looking to get ambitious ahead of the new season.
Everton will be playing at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool from the upcoming term and David Moyes has already seen some of his squad depart in what could be a busy summer.
Experienced campaigners like Ashley Young and Abdoulaye Doucoure are set for an exit, but there are more potential departures.
Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is out on contract this month, and midfielder Gueye as well, but they are in negotiations with the club over a renewal.
Now, the 35-year-old could make his way out of Everton at the end of this month, as a Ligue 1 club are in for him.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, French top-flight side Rennes are genuinely interested in the Senegal midfield star.
It has been suggested that Rennes boss Habib Beye is a big admirer of the Everton man and has identified the 35-year-old as an option.
Les Rouges et Noirs are in need of experienced players at the club this summer and they believe that Gueye is a perfect fit.
He has experience in playing more than 200 Ligue 1 games for Paris Saint-Germain and Lille, and a potential move to the French top flight could prove to be an exciting prospect for him.
Now it remains to be seen if Everton will be able to agree a new contract with Gueye, or if they will end up losing another experienced campaigner.
