But after making that positive first-half contribution, Eze ended up having to come off midway through the second half having hurt himself taking a shot.

With the League Cup final at the weekend, there’s obviously concern in the Arsenal fanbase that the midfielder might be forced to miss the match. Fortunately, the player didn’t seem to think the problem was anything serious.

For a start, Eze didn’t head down the tunnel when he was substituted, instead taking up a spot on the bench. He then told reporters he thinks he’s okay.

“Yeah, I’m alright, I’m alright,” Eze told TNT Sports on their live TV coverage. “I’ll be okay.”

Eze was then asked whether it’s time for Arsenal to turn their positive form into trophies, with that cup final coming up on Sunday.

“It’s an aim, it’s what we want to do, it’s what we’ve had as our goal from the start,” Eze answered. “We’re in the final stages of all these competitions, so we’ll keep pushing, keep working, and God willing, it comes through.”

Martin Odegaard is pushing to be ready for the cup final as well, but given the Norway international’s lack of recent minutes, Mikel Arteta is likely to start Eze against Manchester City if he has the option to. Kai Havertz is another alternative, as he showed by coming on for Eze on Tuesday.

Arsenal will also be sweating on Jurrien Timber’s fitness, after the right-back was forced off at the weekend. Mikel Merino is the only confirmed absentee at this stage.
