He won Euro 2024 with La Roja, then lifted the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain in 2025 and 2026, adding another major honour here.

At 30, he also became the fifth player of the 21st century to win the Champions League and World Cup in the same season. The others are Roberto Carlos in 2002, Sami Khedira in 2014, Raphaël Varane in 2018, all with Real Madrid, and Julian Alvarez in 2022-2023 with Manchester City.

Ruiz is the first player in history to avoid defeat across his opening 50 Spain caps. His only reverse came on penalties in the 2025 Nations League final against Portugal, a 2-2 draw followed by a 3-5 shoot-out, which does not count as a defeat.
