Mikel Merino, Unai Simon and Luis de la Fuente have won U19, U21 Euros, Euro, Nations League and World Cup | OneFootball

Spain’s 1-0 win over Argentina on Sunday sealed the World Cup and extended the shared haul of Luis de la Fuente, Mikel Merino and Unai Simon.

The two players rose through Spain’s youth sides under their current head coach, who joined the federation in 2013. L'Équipe notes that their partnership has delivered titles at every level.

In 2015 the Rojita won the Euro U19 against Russia 2-0. Simon was on the bench while Merino played the full match alongside Rodri in a double pivot.

Four years later De la Fuente guided the U21s to the European crown. Simon was again a substitute and Merino came on in the 78th minute for Fabian Ruiz.

Their senior success resumed in 2023, with the Nations League final against Croatia finishing 0-0 before a 5-4 shootout. Simon saved two penalties and Merino converted his.
