FC Nantes right-back Fabien Centonze has undergone surgery on his right knee and will miss the rest of the season at least. The player said in an Instagram post that the procedure went well and that he is already in recovery.

Centonze sustained the injury in training on 17 April. A cruciate ligament rupture had been feared, but an MRI did not reveal a tear.

He is focusing on rehabilitation, aiming to return as soon as possible and determined to come back stronger. No return date was specified.

He will not feature in Nantes’ final three matches, with the team 17th in Ligue 1 and close to Ligue 2.

Under contract with the Canaris until 2027, the 30-year-old has had numerous injuries, notably to his knee. Not in Luis Castro’s plans at the start of the season, he impressed during Ahmed Kantari’s stint in charge. The full-back has scored four goals, three of them between mid-December and early January.
