The 20-year-old had made his senior Argentina debut during the October break.

“He’s a special player and he must be free to express himself,” Fabregas said at a post-match press conference.

“We must not make him robotic. I spoke to him this morning and he wanted to play. He was ready.”

Sergi Roberto was subbed off in the second half.

“Sergi felt discomfort in his knee,” Fabregas explained.

“He was on a yellow card, so we preferred to take him out. We wanted to introduce Braunöder and go with a 4-4-2, but we had to change at the last second because Dossena could not continue.

“I liked the lads’ reaction after we went down. We have great personality and we proved it,” concluded Fabregas.

“We put in a high-level performance for 30 minutes and we were protagonists in the second half. Parma and we play without fear and it was an open game.”
