Fabrício Oya recalls Corinthians debut and his ‘almost goal’ in first match

One of Corinthians' promises from the past decade, Fabrício Oya had high expectations from the club and the Fiel Torcida. In an interview with Central do Timão, he spoke about his debut, in a victory of the People's Team against Ituano, in the 2019 Paulistão – which would end with a black and white title.

He started on the bench, but was looking for an opportunity to get in. "Then I said, hey, from the midfielders who are here, the chance of me getting in is big. Oya came in for Jadson, taking over the team's set pieces. "Ah, I don't think I did anything very different, like, I took the corners I had to take, because Carilli said, oh, the moment you get in, take all the set pieces and go away. I took the corner, then it was left over. The moment I crossed again, it went to the other side, to Pedrinho", he added.

In this move mentioned by the midfielder, he had the opportunity to score his first goal with the professional team, right on his debut, but saw former full-back Danilo Avelar get ahead and shake the nets.

"Then I'm already coming back, like this. Then the moment Pedrinho took it, went up to the guy there, went to cross, I said, 'ah, I'm going to enter the area here at the far post, what if it's left over here? The moment he crossed, I saw the ball coming. Avelar ran me over like, over the head here and scored the goal", he recalled.

At 26 years old, Fabrício Oya defended Itabaiana in this 2025 season, playing the Serie C of the Brasileirão and was crowned champion of the State Government Cup, in September. For next year, he still has no confirmation of permanence.
