Fabrizio Ravanelli says Juventus had to sign Frattesi in the summer | OneFootball

Davide Frattesi has been in stunning form at Lazio since the start of this season, and his performances have highlighted what Juventus may have missed out on during the summer.

Frattesi previously rejected Juventus when he was at Sassuolo, but this season he was keen to move to Turin after becoming surplus to requirements at Inter Milan. However, the Bianconeri ultimately decided against signing him despite his previous success under Luciano Spalletti with the Italian national team.

The midfielder subsequently moved to Lazio, where he has impressed, while Juventus have continued with Teun Koopmeiners and Douglas Luiz in midfield. Their performances have attracted scrutiny as the club continues to assess its options in the middle of the pitch.

If Juventus did not initially want to sign Frattesi, his strong start to the season could make the decision more significant in retrospect. Fabrizio Ravanelli believes the midfielder was someone the Bianconeri could have used in their squad.

Ravanelli praises Frattesi’s qualities

Speaking via Calciomercato, Ravanelli highlighted the qualities Frattesi could have brought to Juventus, particularly his ability to contribute goals from midfield.

“Juve could have used Frattesi, we don’t have midfielders with multiple goals. Since he was at Sassuolo, I’ve always said he’d be perfect for Juventus. He’s a box-to-box player, which we really lack. Only McKennie is there.”

Ravanelli’s comments focus on Juventus’ need for midfielders capable of contributing regularly in front of goal. Frattesi’s previous performances at Sassuolo and for Italy have established him as a midfielder with an attacking threat.

Juventus assess midfield options

Frattesi’s move to Lazio means Juventus will now have to watch his progress from outside Turin. His performances could continue to raise questions about whether the Bianconeri should have pursued the midfielder when he became available.

The club currently have Koopmeiners and Douglas Luiz among their midfield options, while McKennie remains another player capable of operating in the position.

Frattesi, meanwhile, will look to maintain his form at Lazio and build on his strong start to the season. His performances could make him an increasingly important player for his new club, while Juventus will continue to work with the midfielders already in their squad.
