Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has announced a Here We Go for Chelsea to recall Mamadou Sarr from his loan at Strasbourg.

This occurred late on Sunday evening as we head into another January transfer deadline day today, and after Chelsea lost out on signing Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes.

EXCLUSIVE! Former Chelsea player lined up for reunion with Blues legend in the summer!

The Blues have been on the hunt for a new defender all window and it looks like they are now just going to settle on recalling Sarr from sister club Strasbourg to fill that void and provide Liam Rosenior with the new centre back that he wants.

Aaron Anselmino is about to leave Chelsea on loan for Strasbourg to cover the departure of Sarr there, after some interesting accusations of tapping up from Dortmund, the last team he was with.

So this was the domino transfer move that we have been speaking about and hearing about in the last few days that has now come to fruition as Jacquet looks set to head to Liverpool instead.

Romano posted on his X account late on Sunday night:

‘Chelsea set to recall Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg, here we go! 🔙

‘Decision made as Chelsea believe Sarr is top talent at centre back for long term, key part of project and his return is imminent.

‘Formal steps to follow with #CFC on it on #DeadlineDay.’

An interesting move

Sarr is clearly a top centre back and has a lot of potential, but it’s not really what was reported earlier in the window. We were hearing that Chelsea wanted to add an elite level centre back to come in and they had more than just one target for that.

Seemingly, none of that was true.
