Blues in talks over multiple deals ahead of Monday’s deadline

Chelsea are preparing to loan Aaron Anselmino to Strasbourg for the rest of the season, amid talks over whether to recall Mamadou Sarr before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Sarr has impressed at Strasbourg this season and Liam Rosenior is an admirer of the 20-year-old French centre-back from his time with the Ligue 1 club.

Chelsea have been assessing their centre-back options and Stamford Bridge sources suggest any decision to recall Sarr would not have a bearing on talks over their move to sign Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes.

Jacquet has made it clear he wants to join Chelsea but Rennes do not want to lose him midway through the season. Liverpool also like Jacquet.

Chelsea last week triggered an option to recall Anselmino from his loan at Borussia Dortmund.

Anselmino, who was pictured in tears as he said goodbyes to his Dortmund team-mates, is now moving closer to a loan move to Strasbourg for six months.

Sarr has made 17 appearances for Strasbourg this season and was part of the Senegal squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations last month.

Chelsea are now in talks over whether to bring him back to Stamford Bridge for the second half of the season.

Any movement on Sarr’s situation is likely to come after Strasbourg’s match against Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday evening.

The January window closes in England at 7pm on Monday.
