Liverpool have signed Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain.

The France international, 23, has been the priority target all summer and Richard Hughes has got his man for a fee that could reach in excess of £120m.

Barcola prefers to play on the left - which means that while the 2024/25 Premier League champions have significantly augmented their forward options they are STILL without a natural high-quality right winger.

Mohamed Salah leaving for Trabzonspor has blown a hole in Andoni Iraola’s squad and many players have been looked over as potential replacements.

Endrick is the ideal option for Liverpool

Ismaila Sarr and Yankuba Minteh are two options currently in play although Ibrahim Mbaye has gone to Aston Villa - ending Liverpool’s interest in the teenager.

Another intriguing option which has opened up in recent weeks is Endrick. The Real Madrid 20-year-old has been pushed down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho with new signings Yan Diomande and Carlos Espi coming in.

Brazil international Endrick is a potential world-class addition at centre-forward as well as right wing - solving two Liverpool problems at once.

Not only is Salah departed but Hugo Ekitike is not expected back until 2027. A short-term deal - perhaps with a purchase option attached - might have been a good idea for Richard Hughes to consider.

Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Liverpool entered talks with Real Madrid to sign the left-footed attacker. Nonetheless Liverpoo have been told “no” by their Los Blancos counterparts - meaning other forward deals will have to be considered.

“The club that really tried, but not now, three weeks ago, to sign Endrick was Liverpool,” the Italian transfer heavyweight tells his YouTube audience.

“I told you already in a video a few weeks ago. Not Arsenal.

“Liverpool tried for Endrick, but the player was not again available on the market.”

Endrick may be available again in January

It comes as reports link Arsenal with a deal for the Palmeiras academy product - which Romano also dismisses.

Instead it looks as though Endrick is going to persist with Real Madrid this season despite all those new signings arriving at the Bernabeu.

New coach Jose Mourinho is content to give the attacker a shot although Liverpool may well be encouraged back to the table in January if his situation hasn’t changed.

Endrick suffered under Xabi Alonso last season - playing no significant minutes - and was shipped out on loan to Tyler Morton’s Lyon mid-season.
