Real Madrid have had quite a busy 2026 summer transfer window in which they brought in up to six new players to significantly strengthen their team, as they look to put things right after having gone the last two seasons without any major trophy.

The Merengues have brought in three new defenders, i.e., Marc Cucurella, Denzel Dumfries, and Ibrahima Konate, two new forwards, namely Carlos Espi and Yan Diomande, and one new midfielder, Bernardo Silva.

Keeping in view the fact that midfield was one of their main areas of weakness during the last season, the additions to this area of the team seem to be somewhat underwhelming, even though there are no doubts about Silva’s quality. Still, Los Blancos seem to have decided to go into the next season without bringing in another big name for the midfield, and Jose Mourinho has already stated that his squad is complete for now.

However, Real Madrid are looking very likely to land a midfielder for the future, as they have been strongly linked with the Racing Club youngster Sergio Martinez for the last few days. Now, the journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Merengues are going to sign the player with his characteristic ‘here we go’ post.

The Italian journalist claims that Los Blancos have already agreed terms for the transfer of the 19-year-old midfielder, and would pay €3 million. Contrary to some reports, the youngster will not remain at Racing Club on loan following this signing, and will join his new club immediately.

Sergio Martinez, who will sign a 3-year contract with Real Madrid, rejected other lucrative offers from English, German, and Saudi clubs. Hopefully, this decision will turn out to be the right one for him, and he will continue his development at the biggest club in Europe to establish himself as a regular in their first team.
