Arriving with electric pace and vast amounts of potential is Deadline Day addition Jean-Mattéo Bahoya, joining the Whites on loan from German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.

The France youth international becomes our seventh and final signing of a busy summer, following Melvin Bard in making the Elland Road switch before the window slammed shut.

Below are eight facts and figures about our latest addition…

The electric attacker is the fastest player in Bundesliga history, having clocked in a speed of 37.16 km/h in a 2025 meeting with VfL Bochum. That lightning speed recorded was just 0.42 km/h slower than the average pace set by the fastest man in history, Usain Bolt, in his 2009 World Record 100m sprint!

Using data from StatMuse, that speed was put to good use as Bahoya completed the 10th-most dribbles in the German top-flight last campaign, despite playing considerably fewer minutes than the nine players who ranked above him. His 39 successful dribbles were three more than the Whites' highest in Noah Okafor, again in fewer minutes played.

The 21-year-old brings top level experience having featured eight times in the UEFA Champions League! That included meetings with Spanish giants Barcelona and Atlético Madrid, Italian sides Napoli and Atalanta and English opposition in Liverpool and Tottenham.

The season prior, the forward enjoyed his first foray into continental competition, starring on nine occasions as SGE reached the quarter-finals of the 2024/25 Europa League. That included a maiden goal for the club in a Round of 16 victory over Ajax.

Jean-Mattéo made his senior debut for boyhood club Angers aged just 17 in a Coupe de France clash with Strasbourg and followed that up with a maiden Ligue 1 showing against Lyon. Taking his first steps in the professional game that year, the attacker made 11 appearances in total.

He then continued his form the following term with five goals in the first half of the year, prior to Eintracht Frankfurt coming calling for his signature in January of that season where he would play eight times for the Deutsche Bank Park club to end the campaign.

After featuring for France at younger age groups, Bahoya made his Under-21s debut in a 2025 meeting with Uzbekistan U23, in which he opened his goalscoring account for the team! In four further outings with Les Bleus’ junior side, he has netted once more and grabbed four assists.

A familiar foe to some of his new Leeds teammates, Jean-Mattéo’s time in the Bundesliga brought three appearances against recent fellow addition Michael Zetterer, along with two encounters against Lukas Nmecha and Nico Elvedi. During his time with Angers, he faced Gabriel Gudmundsson once and our other Deadline Day addition Melvin Bard on one occasion.
