Bayer Leverkusen have announced the signing of Facundo Medina, 27, from Marseille on a contract running to 2031.
The Argentine only arrived at Marseille last summer on loan from RC Lens with an option to buy. According to La Provence, upon landing he said he had come to OM to win trophies, yet he departs without silverware amid a wider clear-out.
His first season was curtailed, especially early on, by a recurring ankle problem, limiting him to 26 appearances across all competitions. In 2025 he was involved in only five matches, featuring in four.
Once back to full fitness, he quickly established himself as a regular starter in 2026.
That upturn earned him a place in Argentina’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad, helping his country reach the final, but finishing empty-handed.
