Falkirk 3-6 Rangers: Comeback chaos as Rangers continue title push | OneFootball

Rangers picked up a dramatic 6-3 win away at Falkirk this afternoon, keeping their title hopes alive in what could very well be a preview to this season’s final day clash between the two.

The hosts took a 2-0 lead in the first half, with goals from Ben Broggio and Finn Yeats. However, Tochi Chukwuani, Youssef Chermiti, Nico Raskin and Bojan Miovski combined for four Rangers goals, which gave them a lead early in the second period.

Calvin Miller dispatched a penalty for Falkirk to give them a lifeline, but it wasn’t enough in the end as Chermiti and Miovski both netted again to kill the game off for Rangers.

As It Happened

Falkirk flew out of the traps and got off to the perfect start when Broggio’s left-footed strike found the bottom corner from inside the penalty area off the back of a wicked cross from Miller.

Jayden Meghoma, James Tavernier and Raskin looked to get Rangers level straight away, but all three saw their shots blocked. Djeidi Gassama was next up to try and find the net, but the Falkirk keeper, Scott Bain, was equal to it.

The hosts doubled their lead shortly before the half-hour mark, when Yeats found the bottom right corner from the edge of the box. Meghoma was shown the first yellow card of the afternoon, minutes later, for a foul on Miller inside the Falkirk half.

Liam Henderson picked up Falkirk’s first booking of the day shortly before the break following a heavy challenge on Gassama. Chukwuani provided a lifeline for Rangers on the stroke of half-time, firing home from close range after Thelo Aasgaard struck the post, bringing an eventful first-half to a close.

Danny Röhl made one change at half-time, which saw Miovski replace Mikey Moore. Chermiti pulled the Gers level less than five minutes into the second half, poking home from inside the six-yard box. Raskin then gave the visitors the lead in the 52nd minute, burying the ball into the far corner from the corner of the box.

A sensational start to the second 45 was rounded off by Miovski just shy of the hour mark, when the North Macedonian headed home his side’s fourth goal.

Falkirk were awarded a penalty in the 67th minute, with Tavernier seeing yellow for a pull-back on Filip Lissah. Jack Butland dove the right way, but couldn’t keep out Miller’s calm strike from 12 yards.

Changes followed for both sides, with Broggio and Yeats replaced by Ben Parkinson and Kyrell Wilson for the hosts, whilst Rangers replaced Meghoma with Max Aarons. Aaron was booked within two minutes of his introduction for a tactical foul on the halfway line.

Chermiti netted his second of the game in the 74th minute, smashing home from inside the area. Aasgaard was then replaced by Connor Barron as Rangers looked to see out the remainder of the match.

Dylan Tait, Coll Donaldson and Raskin were all shown a yellow card shortly after for a scuffle on the sideline. Two changes followed for the home side, with Miller and Tait making way for Henry Cartwright and Ethan Ross.

Rangers’ final substitutions saw Chukwuani and Gassama replaced by Mohamed Diomande and Oliver Antman. Miovski added a sixth goal for Rangers moments later, turning the ball home after a delightful low cross from Antman and confirming an important three points for Rangers.
