A well-known Leeds United supporter, Michael ‘Little Mick’ Hewitt, has gone missing while travelling to the World Cup, prompting an urgent family appeal. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, he was due to reach Boston for England’s second group match earlier this month.
Hewitt left Leeds on Saturday 20 June, travelling to the United States via Barcelona. His family last heard from him in the early hours of Sunday 21 June after he landed in Spain.
He is a familiar face to many Whites fans after decades following the club home and away. His phone has been out of service since, and he has posted no updates on social media.
He has been reported missing and the case has been raised with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, reference 02470905. Interpol has been alerted, and it is hoped there will soon be clarity on whether he continued to the USA or remained in Barcelona.
The UK police reference is 20260628/1183. West Yorkshire Police received a missing person report at 3.09pm on Sunday 28 June. Anyone who has seen or heard from him since 21 June is urged to contact his relatives or the FCDO.
