Leicester City defender Jannik Vestergaard, of all people, put in a five-star performance against arguably the greatest player of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo, on international duty.

Ah, yes, the international break. It's that time of the year when we would usually be bored. However, it's been pretty nice to take a break from Leicester City. This is an unfortunate sign of the times that we crave a boring interim period rather than the pain of watching the Foxes.

Well, we could cross our fingers and toes so that no Leicester player will be injured during this break. However, this is a redundant wish, anyway. Relegation is an agreed-upon certainty in the Leicester fanbase, so holding out for false hope does nobody any favours.

While hardly any Leicester players have treated the loyal fans to good performances this season, those same fans will be rooting for their players on international duty. It might be painful, but this is part and parcel of being a supporter.

Surprising Leicester City player pocketed Cristiano Ronaldo

Last night, Leicester City defender Jannik Vestergaard, who is no longer in Ruud van Nistelrooy's plans, had a brilliant game against none other than Cristiano Ronaldo. Vestergaard's Denmark kept a clean sheet and won the match 1-0.

Playing in a back four, Vestergaard was arguably the best player on the pitch. This is despite playing the same match as some world-class players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Rafael Leao.

Vestergaard played alongside Leicester City legend Kasper Schmeichel, who is still killing it this season in Celtic colours, by the way. Both players combined well to keep out the world-renowned Portugal attack.

Look, this match was in the Nations League. This must be addressed because obviously, the competition doesn't have the biggest calibre. In fact, there are question marks about whether or not teams actually take it seriously.

Regardless, you can only beat what's in front of you. Last night, Vestergaard had the pretty difficult task of facing Portugal, ranked sixth in the world. Nevertheless, his tenacious performance, of which he played every minute, led his 21st-ranked nation to victory and solidified their place in the semifinal.

Must be nice to see a good Vestergaard performance, Danish fans. Of course, this is not something Leicester City fans are used to. So, loyal Foxes showed their disbelief on social media.
