Ahead of the 2026-27 Ligue 1 kick-off on Friday at 20:45, readers’ predictions point strongly to Paris Saint-Germain taking the title, with some surprises elsewhere.
According to L'Équipe, PSG are overwhelming favourites, drawing 80.30% of votes, with more than 47,000 backing the reigning double European champions. Last season’s runners-up Lens collected only 3.64% for the crown.
Many still expect Lens to make the podium, with 47.2% placing them in the top three. Lyon follow on 45.65%. Marseille are far less fancied, ranking sixth in this category on 14.54%, behind Lille on 21.25%, Monaco on 19.82% and Rennes on 18.39%.
At the other end, Le Havre are tipped for the relegation play-off spot with 16.32%, ahead of Troyes on 15.43% and Le Mans on 13.72%. Voters see Metz on 10.88%, Montpellier on 9.68% or Nantes on 9.38% as the best-placed Ligue 2 sides to contest that tie.
Direct relegation forecasts put Troyes on 53.39% and Le Mans on 45.13% as most likely to go down, well clear of Le Havre on 23.42% and Angers on 21.93%.
In Ligue 2, Saint-Étienne are viewed as strong favourites for direct promotion with 76.67%, ahead of Metz on 28.87%, Montpellier on 16.10% and Reims on 15.39%. Metz also feature as the preferred play-off opponent, a combination that cannot happen simultaneously.
