Fans pick France's 26 for 2026 World Cup, Maignan, Mbappé lead poll

According to L'Équipe, more than 110,000 readers voted to pick a 26-man France squad for the 2026 World Cup in North America, scheduled from 11 June to 19 July. The selections broadly mirror Didier Deschamps’ recent choices.
In goal, Mike Maignan led with 86.08% of votes. Lucas Chevalier was next on 74.73%, despite limited minutes at PSG, and Rennes keeper Brice Samba followed with 71.13%.
At centre-back, Dayot Upamecano and William Saliba each topped 97%, with Ibrahima Konaté on 94.38%. Lucas Hernandez collected 57.63% and Maxence Lacroix 52.48%.
At full-back, Lucas Digne polled 86.48% to edge Theo Hernandez on 72.60% at left-back. On the right, Jules Koundé secured 93.41% with Malo Gusto on 75.58%. Pierre Kalulu, called up last time, missed out with 27.97%.
In midfield, Aurélien Tchouaméni drew 97.91% and N'Golo Kanté 93.70%, with Eduardo Camavinga on nearly 85%. Maghnes Akliouche ranked fourth on 81.22%, just ahead of Adrien Rabiot on 79.72%. Manu Koné and Warren Zaïre-Emery each received 76%.
Up front, captain Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé both topped 97%, followed by Michael Olise on 95.67%. Hugo Ekitike, a scorer against Brazil in the 1-2 defeat, earned 87.28%, while Bradley Barcola and Désiré Doué each polled 82%. Rayan Cherki completed the list on 75.12%, well clear of Marcus Thuram on 18.26% despite scoring against Colombia in a 1-3 loss, and Randal Kolo Muani on 15.82%.
