Aaronson featured in all seven fixtures across league and cup, playing 494 minutes as Daniel Farke’s side recorded two wins and three draws during a busy month.

January began with a 0-0 draw away at Liverpool at Anfield, before Aaronson scored the opener in the 1-1 draw with Man Utd at Elland Road. He then produced his standout display at St James’ Park, netting twice against Newcastle United to take his total to three goals for the month.

His impact was not limited to the scoresheet. Aaronson recorded 278 touches, 121 passes and seven shots, while also carrying the ball 87 times for 622.4 metres. Out of possession, he won 28 duels, made 16 defensive contributions, 32 recoveries, plus two interceptions and two clearances.

After receiving the award, Aaronson said: “It's an amazing feeling to get this award, but most of all it was a really good month for the team too, with some great performances across the pitch.”

Asked for a personal standout moment in January, there was no hesitation from the 25 year old: “I'd probably say my goal against Man Utd. Just to be at home, in front of our fans, a big rivalry between the two clubs - to score in that game will always feel the best.”

Looking ahead, the midfielder is determined to maintain his level for the remainder of the campaign. “That's the minimum for me now. I want to continue to play at this high level and show what I can do on the pitch, so that's the goal. We've got to get ready for these next couple of big months and keep performing at the level that we're doing.”
