‘Far Beyond The Reach’ – Celtic Bound Star Snubbed Huge Offer For Parkhead Switch | OneFootball

Real Oviedo winger Haissem Hassan has rejected a ‘salary far beyond the reach’ of many European clubs from Saudi Arabia, as he closes in on a move to Celtic.

The Scottish champions are keen to strengthen this summer and avoid the disastrous window they had last year, which left fans angry.

Martin O’Neill is now in the market to bring in a winger and the Bhoys have been linked with Lazio’s Matteo Cancellieri, who also has interest from England where West Ham United considering a swap move for the player.

Celtic also have Algeria winger Fares Ghedjemis on their wish list as well, but Italian side Frosinone will not part ways with the player unless they receive a crazy offer.

Egypt international Hassan, who turned some heads with his performance against Argentina in the recently concluded World Cup, is a player that Celtic are keen on.

There has been interest from a number of clubs in the 24-year-old and Real Oviedo slapped a €12m price tag on his head.

Celtic saw a bid for Hassan turned down earlier this summer, but continued the chase and have an agreement with Real Oviedo on the basis of a fee of around €11m.

Celtic are now closing in on securing the signature of Hassan as they are ironing out some final details to take the Egyptian to Glasgow.

According to Spanish daily Sport, Hassan also refused an offer from Saudi Arabia in favour of a move to Celtic and the salary put on the table was far beyond the reach of most European clubs.

Hassan wanted to stay in Europe to compete in the major competitions and Celtic’s offer provided him with that opportunity.

French outfit Marseille have also been among his admirers and there were suggestions that Hassan was prioritising a move to the Ligue 1 outfit.

Marseille though have financial worries and need to offload players, something which has seen Igor Paixao linked with a move, and Celtic are taking full advantage.

If all goes well than Cetic fans might see Hassan donning the Bhoys colours when O’Neill’s side face LASK Linz in a Champions League playoff match on 19th August.
