Winter change at FC Bayern: A player from the German record champions is changing clubs during the current season.

FC Bayern has found a quick solution in the goalkeeper position: Daniel Peretz is moving to England. According to information from BILD, the Israeli international keeper is moving to Southampton FC.

Peretz will be loaned to the English second division club until the summer of 2026. The relegated Premier League side is currently in 13th place in the Championship and the Bayern keeper will be a short-term addition between the posts. According to Sky, the deal is also likely to include a purchase option.

This follows the premature termination of his loan to Hamburger SV. Peretz was originally supposed to spend the entire season with the newly promoted Bundesliga side, but hardly got a chance there. He did not make any appearances in the league and only made two appearances in the DFB Cup. From a sporting perspective, the situation was unsatisfactory for all sides.

Peretz wanted to be number one at HSV

Peretz had recently expressed his frustration openly. At the beginning of December, he told SPORT BILD: „I expected to be number one. That hasn’t been the case so far. Of course I’m not happy about it. I make no secret of that. I don’t think any footballer is happy if he doesn’t play. My goal is still to play every game.“ At the same time, he emphasised: „In soccer, as in life, everything can change from one second to the next.“

This is exactly the change that has now taken place. FC Bayern are reacting to the keeper’s lack of match practice by breaking off his loan and moving to England. Peretz came to Munich from Tel Aviv in the summer of 2023 and is still under contract with the record champions until 2028. Bayern therefore retain long-term control over his future.

From Munich’s point of view, the move is understandable: instead of another half-season without appearances, Peretz should now gain playing time in a new environment and develop further at international level. The move to Southampton is the best short-term solution for this.
