FC Bayern extend Freund’s contract until 2029 | OneFootball

FC Bayern announced the contract extension for sporting director Christoph Freund ahead of time on Wednesday afternoon. With the new deal, the 49-year-old will stay at the club until 30 June 2029.

The Austrian joined FC Bayern’s ranks in 2023 from RB Salzburg. The Rekordmeister already gave new deals to CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and board member for sport Max Eberl at the end of last month.

"I'm delighted that Christoph (Freund) will continue to work with all of us on the sporting management of FC Bayern. Christoph is a valuable part of our team, an important point of contact in the sporting area, from the first team and staff to the FC Bayern Campus." Eberl commented after the latest contract extension news.

"Christoph Freund plays a central role in all our sporting decisions. We are delighted that he will continue to work for FC Bayern in the future. The success of recent years is partly due to his outstanding work.” added Dreesen about his colleague.

Freund also spoke about the new deal as he looks forward to the future with the Bavarians. “I'm very happy to be able to continue contributing to the development of FC Bayern in the future. FC Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and this task has become a matter close to my heart since I started here.”
