FC Köln set to sign Valencia’s Cenk Özkacar, officially tender €7m offer for Middlesbrough’s Rav van den Berg

Sport Bild, Sky Germany, and Kicker are all reporting that Turkish international Cenk Özkacar is currently undergoing an 1. FC Köln medical. The FC Valencia professional is set to join the newly promoted Bundesliga outfit on loan with a €2m purchase option. Özkakar – a nine-times-capped international – has already assembled experience playing in France and Belgium as well as Spain.
Köln attempt to bolster their defensive corps ahead of the coming German top flight season by adding one right-footed and one left-footed central defender. With respect to the cathedral city club’s pursuit of the former, Patrick Berger has an update to furnish on attempts to acquire Middlesbrough centre-back Rav van den Berg.
Berger reports that Köln have submitted a €7m offer for the 21-year-old. The Domstädter now await the decision of the player and his EFL Championship club. Van den Berg currently maintains an estimated €4.5m market value. Based on the figures, one might falsely assume that the matter is a simple one.
Despite the fact that Köln have tendered a generous offer, Berger notes that Feyenoord and Crystal Palace are also interest in the Dutch U21 international. Van den Berg has also been linked with VfL Wolfsburg and VfB Stuttgart in the past.
Berger writes that “other Bundesliga clubs are monitoring the situation closely“.
