FC Porto president Andre Villas-Boas has provided a clear update on the future of Rodrigo Mora, the 18-year-old attacking midfielder who has caught the attention of Real Madrid.

According to Villas-Boas, the Portuguese club would consider offers starting at €70 million for their talented youngster.

Mora’s performances over the last season have been impressive. In his debut professional campaign in the Primeira Liga, he scored 11 goals and provided 4 assists, a remarkable return for a teenager operating in midfield.

His breakout form has firmly put him on the radar of elite clubs, including Real Madrid, who continue to pursue a strategy of investing in top young talent.

Villas-Boas also touched on previous negotiations with Al Ittihad for Mora during the summer.

“We received an offer of €50 million from Al Ittihad, a club that, unfortunately, has become accustomed to manipulating Porto,” he said according to AS.

“They promised an offer of €63 million that never materialised. Porto, in any case, would not sell Rodrigo Mora for less than the release clause, which at the time was €115 million.”

Porto willing to negotiate

The Porto president further explained that the club eventually decided to lower their asking price, a detail Real Madrid will likely consider while preparing their scouting report on Mora.

“However, in a conversation with the player, we said we were willing to accept a deal starting at €70 million.

“But that offer never materialised, and Al Ittihad once again disappeared from the negotiating table with Porto.”

For now, Real Madrid are taking a careful approach. While Mora is clearly on their radar, the club is prioritising thorough evaluation over rushing into a deal.

The focus is on making the right strategic decision, ensuring that any investment aligns with Madrid’s long-term vision and squad planning.

Should the right offer be made, the Spanish giants could secure a player capable of shaping the future of their attack.
