According to a report from Sky Germany (h/t AS), the future of Real Madrid target Dayot Upamecano at Bayern Munich is uncertain, as negotiations over his contract renewal have reached a standstill.

The 26-year-old defender’s current deal expires at the end of the season, and talks between his representatives and the club have yet to produce an agreement.

Upamecano and his entourage remain firm in their demands, refusing to compromise on their terms. The player has already submitted a detailed proposal, leaving Bayern to decide whether to accept or reject it.

His requests reportedly include a notable pay rise and a €17 million signing bonus, conditions that go against Bayern’s current policy of keeping salaries under control.

Despite the complications, Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, is eager to keep the 26-year-old at the club and considers his renewal a key priority.

However, there are contrasting opinions within the boardroom. Some believe the club should stand firm on its wage structure, even if it means losing the defender for free next summer.

The uncertainty surrounding Upamecano’s future has caught the attention of top European clubs.

According to reports, both Real Madrid and Liverpool are closely monitoring the situation. They could make their move if Bayern fail to secure an agreement in the coming months.

In Munich, there is growing concern that Upamecano’s tough negotiating stance could be a strategic move to buy time and assess offers from abroad.

Still, Bayern officials remain hopeful that his positive relationship with the new sporting project will persuade him to stay.

For now, the situation remains unresolved and could stretch well into the winter transfer window, when the player will be eligible to sign a pre-agreement with a foreign club.

Real Madrid, who are known to be evaluating long-term defensive options, may view this as an ideal opportunity if Bayern’s contract talks continue to stall.
