Manchester United are reportedly lining up a swoop for Inter Milan defender Federico Dimarco after a huge decision by club boss Ruben Amorim.

United already planning for January window

United’s summer transfer business was largely centred on strengthening their attacking department after a goal-shy 2024/25 campaign.

The Red Devils brought in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko. Cunha and Mbeumo have seemingly already slotted into life at the club, while Sesko has demonstrated very promising signs of his potential and the lethal striker he can develop into.

United also secured the signings of goalkeeper Senne Lammens and youngster Diego Leon. The pair are yet to make their first-team debut and appear to be viewed as not ready for that level just yet.

It’s believed that United are already planning to bolster their squad further, with midfield the major priority. However, the defence could also be reinforced, particularly if the right opportunities arise in the market.

Now, il Napolista claim that United are eyeing Inter Milan star Dimarco, who is highly rated by Amorim.

United looking at Dimarco

il Napolista say, “Federico Dimarco is a Manchester United target. Amorim is very interested in the Inter Milan and Italian national team left-back.”

“The manager has placed him high on his January transfer wish list.”

The outlet explains that Dimarco, who is a specialist wing-back, would be perfect for Amorim’s preferred 3-4-2-1 system.

He currently doesn’t feature highly in the plans of manager Cristian Chivu, who is relying more on Carlos Augusto.

Inter’s owners – Oaktree – would not stand in the way of Dimarco if United were to make a concrete move and the player expressed a desire to seal a switch to Old Trafford.

Dimarco’s contract expires in 2027.
