Federico Dimarco on Barcelona interest: “Always nice to be linked” | OneFootball

Serie A champions Inter saw wing-back Federico Dimarco get linked with a move to Barcelona late in the summer transfer window.

Get Italian Football News covered Inter’s rejection for the Catalan club’s enquiry, as they were happy to offer Alejandro Balde in return. This never appealed to Inter, who were desperate to keep the Italian.

Dimarco has now spoken to Sky Italia – via Calciomercato, about his future, the new deal at the Nerazzurri and suggestions of Barcelona interest.

He said, at the Gran Gala del Calcio: “It’s always nice to be linked with these great clubs. You know my history at Inter, I’ve been here for many years, I grew up here.”

He also made it clear that he is willing to sign a new deal at Inter but so far, no progress has been made.

“As for the renewal, we haven’t talked about it yet. I was hoping it would happen, given how last season ended, but there will be a chance to talk about it soon.” 

This probably comes as a bit of a warning to Inter. While they may not be at a huge risk of losing Dimarco, they have to hurry to hand him a new deal.

His current contract runs out in 2027 and there have been rumours about a renewal which will tie him down until 2030. But that hasn’t turned into action and Inter should be getting it done quickly.
