Federico Viñas looking to Europe as his dream at América dies | OneFootball

Federico Viñas has no intention of staying in Liga MX should a move away from América be agreed in the close season.

The 23-year-old played a bit-part role for the Azulcrema in the 2021 Apertura, starting just five of their regular-season games and coming on as substitute five times.

He was introduced from the bench for the final 17 minutes in the quarter-final second leg against Pumas, but could do little to prevent Las Águilas crashing out on a 3-1 scoreline.

And now the Uruguay U-23 international’s agent has spoken about his client’s immediate plans.

“The only market we think of for him is Europe, if possible, and if not, he will stay in América fighting for a place,” Daniel Gutiérrez told ESPN.

“There is no chance that Federico Viñas will play for any Mexican team other than America,” the representative added.

That would seem to put paid to earlier reports linking the player with a move to Necaxa.

The former Juventud attacker scored just once in the whole Apertura campaign, a far cry from the excitement he created when scoring just 28 seconds after making his debut against Pumas in September 2019.
