Tom Fellows is a doubt for Southampton’s Championship trip to Norwich on Saturday after a groin issue in the 3-2 win over West Brom, according to Daily Echo. Saints remain confident it is not serious.
The 22-year-old former England youth international has recorded three assists under head coach Tonda Eckert. Eckert said the club will try everything to have the wing-back available, with Elias Jelert and Mads Roerslev still sidelined.
The 32-year-old added that Shea Charles also needs longer, Ross Stewart remains out, and Damion Downs has returned to his first training sessions. He praised Fellows’ recent form and adaptation after leaving his home club.
Ryan Fraser could fill in at right wing-back, as he did after an hour against West Brom. The Scot was among the scorers in a 3-0 Carabao Cup win at Carrow Road earlier this season.
That remains the biggest away margin there this season. Norwich have failed to win nine of their 10 home games, the sole victory coming against QPR and marking Philippe Clement’s first since replacing Liam Manning last month.
Norwich boss Philippe Clement has won one of five matches. Eckert expects a demanding contest despite City sitting 23rd, and said they are preparing for different scenarios after a concussion substitution for Josh Sargent.
