Fenerbahçe have issued an official statement rubbishing reports linking them with Chelsea winger Jamie Gittens, describing the claims as unfounded. The club said in a statement that attempts to steer their transfer agenda would not succeed.
Speculation had built in recent days that the Süper Lig contenders were preparing a move for the 22-year-old, but Fenerbahçe moved quickly to address the rumour with a strongly worded note on their website.
The club insisted stories about interest in the Chelsea player were false and did not reflect reality. They added that Fenerbahçe run their sporting structure, transfer policy and long-term planning according to their own strategy, needs and established programmes.
Supporters were urged to ignore such reports and rely only on official club channels. The statement said the immediate focus is the first-week match against Gençlerbirliği in the Trendyol Super League.
The denial puts a definitive end to talk of Gittens leaving Stamford Bridge before the deadline. The former Borussia Dortmund winger has a long-term Chelsea deal through 2032, endured an injury-hit debut season, has overcome hamstring problems and is aiming to establish himself in the Premier League this campaign.
