Fenerbahçe have reopened their pursuit of Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, contacting his representatives to test interest in a Süper Lig switch, according to Turkish-Football.com.
The Istanbul club have stepped up plans for a major midfield rebuild and see the 23-year-old as a priority. Sarr has been a regular since joining from Metz in 2022, yet his future is described as uncertain amid a turbulent Spurs campaign and the threat of relegation.
The Turkish side are watching the Premier League table closely. If Tottenham were to drop to the Championship, barriers to a deal could fall.
Sarr is under contract until 2030 and is valued at roughly €32-€35 million. Fenerbahçe hope current instability, along with his potential desire for European football, could soften the asking price.
Competition is expected, with rivals Galatasaray monitoring developments, raising the prospect of an Istanbul transfer battle this summer.
Fenerbahçe explored a move last summer but could not agree terms. This time the initial contact is said to be more structured, with Roberto De Zerbi’s potential squad changes at Tottenham possibly creating an exit route.
Sarr has made 28 appearances this season with several goal contributions. The Fenerbahçe hierarchy view him as a high-upside addition who could anchor midfield for years, and exploratory talks may shift to formal negotiations as the European season nears its conclusion.
