Fer Lopez has returned to Wolves early from Spain Under-21 duty with a small issue to be assessed ahead of Saturday’s trip to Middlesbrough.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 22-year-old left the national team’s camp at the weekend and is back at Compton for checks.
He played 70 minutes in Spain Under-21s’ 2-1 defeat by Finland on 25 September, then missed the 13-0 win over San Marino last Thursday.
Lopez has made a strong start to the season under Cesar Peixoto, scoring five goals in all competitions and netting the winner in the Black Country derby against West Brom before the break.
Wolves have other fitness issues. Raul Jimenez sustained a knee injury before the break, while Yerson Mosquera and Rafiki Said are still working back.
There was better news as Ladislav Krejci returned for Czechia during the international window after a calf problem, and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde continued his recovery with Haiti.
Lopez has started all seven league matches, with four goals and two assists, helping Peixoto’s side sit three points off the top.
