Fermin Lopez opens up on his close relationship with Barcelona star Lamine Yamal | OneFootball

Group cohesiveness and good chemistry are two of the several factors that have allowed FC Barcelona to enjoy a lot of success on the field for the last few years. Hansi Flick has done a great job in setting up a very healthy dressing room, with all the players clearly working towards the team’s goals.

One underlying factor that has helped in this regard is the presence of several players from La Masia, including the likes of Pau Cubarsi, Xavi Espart, Alejandro Balde, Marc Bernal, Fermin Lopez, and Lamine Yamal. Some of these players have a very good relationship between them.

This is particularly the case for Fermin and Yamal, and this was clear from a recent interview in which the midfielder appeared. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, Fermin revealed how the winger had planned to pay tribute to him during the World Cup, which he missed because of injury:

Recently, Yamal mentioned in an interview that Fermin is the player who understands him the best, and the Barcelona midfielder responded to those comments:

“I saw it. I’m very happy that Lamine said those things about me because, in the end, he is a very important player for us. He is a friend, and I try to make things easier for him while also taking advantage of the fact that he attracts a lot of players and trying to exploit the spaces. I try to give him a lot of passes, make him feel comfortable, and I think we understand each other very well.”

Regarding the Ballon d’Or, Fermin was clear about who deserves to win it, despite several of his teammates competing for it:

“For me, yes, obviously. I see him every day and he is spectacular, and he has had an incredible year at Barça. At the World Cup, perhaps he couldn’t show his best version because he was also coming back from injury, but in the end, he won the World Cup and I think he deserves it. There are also many Spaniards who deserve it. Pedri isn’t even nominated, nor is Raphinha, for example. Pau has also had a great year, but if I had to choose one, I would go with Lamine.”

The midfielder admitted Harry Kane would also be a strong contender for the top individual prize in Europe:

“We would try to support him, but I don’t think one match will have much influence. Harry Kane is also a great player and I think he will be in the top three as well. I hope Lamine can win it.”

For now, Fermin Lopez has recovered from his injury and is playing regularly for Hansi Flick at Barcelona. He was also called up by Luis de la Fuente for the Spanish national team for their matches in this international break, and hopefully, the midfielder will be able to showcase how much he can contribute to the national team as well.
