The good chemistry and the feeling of camaraderie in the team was one of the main ingredients that helped FC Barcelona enjoy such a high level of success in the last season. However, there have been some events that have rocked this good atmosphere of the dressing room to some extent.
First, it was the issue of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, as the goalkeeper and the Catalan club publicly fought about his injury and expected return date. Eventually, this matter was amicably settled between the two parties.
Lately, there have also been some rumors of a rift between two Blaugrana midfielders, i.e., Fermin Lopez and Gavi. However, appearing in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Fermin laid these rumors to rest as he made it clear that Gavi was like a brother to him.
Talking about his relationship with his colleague in the Barcelona midfield, Fermin Lopez said:
“Gavi has been my friend since I was 12 years old. I’ve known him since my time at Betis, but ever since I joined La Masia, he’s been my friend, like my brother.”
Fermin went on to make it clear that the speculation about his relationship with Gavi was not indicative of the truth:
“We’ve shared a lot. People will always speculate, that’s not going to change, but he’s still my friend. We have a good relationship, just like always, and I have nothing more to say about it.”
It is definitely heartening to see Fermin putting an end to the rumors of his rift with Gavi. Such internal fights can significantly impact the team on the pitch, and hopefully, the senior players and the coaches will be able to avoid any such instances even if they occur in the future.
